José Tomás. I’ve read several articles about Tomás over the years; an interesting man. This one from the Paris Review is a good introduction. (EDIT: I just rewatched the 2008 corrida where he was gored three times, and had a great deal of trouble — with his injuries, yes, but more so with the tortured bull. The first website I ever made on the internet (in 1996) was about bullfighting; it seems I’ve changed since then.)
